English Translation:

Which home has today
Cast open its gates?
Who received the present sunrise
Like a blessing of fulfilment?
In initiation of which king
Does the golden pot fill with light
A fond gesture of whom
Lets the morning break away from murk?
The forests fill with blossoms,
Fresh leaves dance
Who is the one who secretly
Wreathed them together in his heart?
Like a very old gift who was received,
Whose is the life
That lets daybreak rub off darkness?

My new project for L'Arche FMR India Asha Niketan

I have the great pleasure of associating with a documentary & public awareness spot films project on the gifts and challenges of persons with intellectual disabilities living in the communities of L’Arche FMR India - Asha Niketan. For this I had to travel with a very small crew for depicting the moods and moments of persons with intellectual disabilities and those who serve and walk with them selflessly in their joy, pain and difficulties. We stayed with them and witnessing their life in the communities of L’Arche FMR India in Kolkotha, Asansol, Bangalore, Chennai & Kerala in last September 2014. It was really a great and challenging experience for me to associate with this project.

It was in the year of 1993, I was working in Spencer Plaza, I dropped into Asha Niketan Chennai for the first time with my friend Rojy Varghese and our family friend Joshua Uncle, Jayanthy Aunty, and their children. I still remember, that day I spend the whole evening with them singing and dancing. Rajeevan & Manoj was the assistants there in Asha Niketan and we became very close friends. In 2002, I cinematographed & directed a 30 minutes documentary film for Asha Niketan Chennai with the help & support of Santhosh Kumar (MD of Studio D9, Chennai). They provided a camera and an assistant for 2 days and the editing studio for free of cost. We have done the complete post production works within 2 days restlessly with the editor Mr Shiju.

Many years passed by now…

Rajeevan is now positioning the National Leader of L’Arche FMR India - Asha Niketan, Manoj is now in Santhigiri Ashraman Pothankode, Trivandrum, Shiju is editor with Media One Channel, Santhosh Kumar is shuttling between Chennai & Mumbai looking after his business, Joshua Uncle & Jayanthy Aunty are in Chennai, their children are settled in the US, Rojy Varghese is now a Yoga teacher & singer is settled in Calicut with his wife.

I just completed the documentary & public awareness spot films project and just simply relaxing.

Poem:

We are called to be open and to grow in love,
Communicate life to others,
And develop long lasting relationships.

The beauty of who we are
Lies in our capacity to accept our gifts and shadows
And we discover that we are loved.

Our universe is not only made up of beautiful trees,
but also of stunted ones
Yet each tree is important.

If we light a small candle up a dark room,
Everything is lit up
But the shadows stay on

Behind the black clouds,
The sun is shining
But our deep wound remains

We are a mixture of light and darkness,
Trust and fear,
Love and hate.

Sometime we need to cry our tears,
Scream and shout our pain
And find new life.

We are fragile,
With deep needs for love,
And belonging.

This is to remind each one of us about the art of relationship, transformation & sign and to be faithful to our personal mission to accept and announce the gift of people with intellectual disabilities in this world.
